Theme song changed for NTSC release too

Fans have been waiting to hear whether the theme song for Charmed would be changed for region 1; overseas releases were already released with a new theme song. TVShowsonDVD now confirms the upcoming September 11 release of the 8th season in region 1 contains the same theme song heard on the overseas DVD set. A disclaimer on the set lists "Some episodes may be edited from their original network versions. Music has been changed for this home entertainment version."

Since the Charmed Book of Shadows boxset was out of print, it will be re-released on 1st November 2007. This time it will also include season 8 DVDs.
Price will be $AU 349,83.

While the international releases of the 8th season features a different theme music for the show it is not known if the region 1 release will contain the original theme or the new music.

Each DVD issue comes with a magazine consisting of 20-22 pages each detailing moments from the show and the occasional interview along with a DVD that coctains 3 episodes.

52 DVDs/magazines are planned for release (note: no special features [if that applies to s8 DVDs is not clear])

Subscription costs  £2.99 for Issue 1, £7.99 from Issue 2 onwards.

If you subscribe now you will receive:
1 Charmed pen, 1 Charmed binder, 1 Charmed adress book, The Book of Shadows CD and a storing case for all 52 DVD's including all 4 sisters and Leo detailing the side.

Each subscription has a different cover for the magazine that matches the DVD cover and when all 52 are put side by side, the smae image from the carrying case appears. It is not clear on the colors as seta 1-4 are different, but the picture of the whole collection is purple.

Brad Kern about season 8 DVD extras

The plan at this point is to try to get 90 minutes of extras in for the eighth season release, which will be out around Christmas. That would include episode commentaries, hopefully bloopers, set tours. It should be a pretty extensive and elaborate extras package. That's the hope and plan right now, and I'm pushing very hard for the unaired pilot, but that has legal ramifications, and only the legal department can tell us whether or not that can happen. But I'm pushing for it because I think it's a slam dunk. The fans would love it.

CBS works some magic - extras for season 8

It has been reported on TheCharmedOnes.com and TVShowsOnDVD.com - there will be extras on season 8.
While TCO claims to have achieved this with their petition, TVShowsONDVD thinks a bit more realistically though claiming some fame for "well placed phone calls" which helped in this matter.
CBS took over Paramount's TV titles earlier this year and has released featurettes and included commentaries for other shows (e.g. CSI).

Apparently they couldn't get the masters ready for the previously planned May
release, and they've set an August target for the next set.
The August announcement can be expected to come sometime in May.
