Rose
will be in "Man On The Run"
starring British acting legend, Sir Ben Kingsley.
The film chronicles the life of IRA informer Martin McGartland, between
1987 and 1991.
Skogland, who has also written the film, is best known in the UK for directing
several episodes of the hit Channel 4 comedy Queer As Folk, in 2000.
The film is based on the 1998 book, Fifty Dead Men Walking, written by
McGartland after his own part in the story came to a near fatal conclusion. The
story tells how McGartland was recruited by the RUC Special Branch to infiltrate
the IRA.

Julian
in "The smell of Apples"
Shooting will begin in early 2008 on the film adaptation of The Smell of Apples,
a novel by Mark Behr. U.K. television company Target Entertainment and Pink
Sands will distribute the coming-of-age story set in 1970s Cape Town, which
stars Gillian Anderson (The X-Files) and Julian McMahon (Fantastic Four: Rise of
the Silver Surfer).
Set in South Africa during the '70s, Apples is a coming-of-age drama based on
Mark Behr's novel. Marnus Erasmus is a young kid from an affluent, white, South
African family who grows in a house of "terrible hatred and ignorance." Yet he's
also challenged by the events that happen around him, from a servant's son who
is severely burned, to an aunt who is exiled for her liberal views. I imagine
that Anderson will play Marnus' mother, and Julian McMahon, who is co-starring,
will probably be the dad and "youngest-ever major-general in the South African
Defence Force."

Universal Pulls Out From Barbarella: Rodriguez Blames Budget, Not
McGowan
Last week it was reported that Universal Studios had backed out of Robert
Rodriguez’s big-screen remake of Barbarella because Robert wouldn’t budge on the
casting choice of his new fiancée, Rose McGowan. Apparently, McGowan isn’t a big
enough start to carry a $100 million film!
The New York Observer’s source said,
"It’s sort of embarrassing for everyone involved. No
one thinks Rose can carry the movie, but Robert won’t listen."
Robert Rodriguez us denying that the production trouble is due to casting
troubles. Robert claims that it had to do with the skyrocketing budget, which
stands at around $82 million. According to the director, Universal wanted to do
the film for around $60 million.
Personally, I think Rodriguez is far too talented to be spending time remaking a
film which really doesn’t need to be remade. Seriously, will this generation

Should
Dodgers heed Alyssa Milano's advice?
Actress Alyssa Milano, a self-professed Dodgers fanatic, wrote an open letter to
manager Grady Little last week on her blog at MLBlogs.com.
Dear Mr. Little,
Hi! I know you're real busy with the pennant race and all so I won't take up too
much of your time.
I beg of you, in the future please refrain from batting anyone with a batting
average under the Mendoza Line in the cleanup spot. I'm all for (Olmedo) Saenz
getting the start at first to get some more at-bats and give (James) Loney a
break, but you may want to consider batting him appropriately for a .185 hitter.
Just a suggestion. Call me crazy.
Also, while I have your attention I've got another crazy suggestion: You may
want to check out (Andre) Ethier's numbers against lefties (AVG. -- .329, OBP --
.372, SLG -- .466) and start him accordingly. With the way he's been hitting,
there is no reason for him not to get the start against lefties unless he is
hurt. Crazy right?
Thanks,
Alyssa Milano

Rosario Dawson and Rose McGowan have decided to bare all on the cover of rock
magazine Rolling Stone - wearing nothing but bullet belts.
The sexy ladies are co-stars in Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's new

Dawson reveals tiny McGowan had to stand on a box to make sure her bottom

sure that our butts touched and our shoulders touched."
Inside the publication, the actresses are snapped sweaty and grimy, wearing only

Alyssa Gives the Inside Scoop
She speaks about her new pilot, Baseball, and baby horses.
Hello! Hello! Hello!
I hope this blog finds you all well and in good spirits. There are so many
exciting things going on in my life, I don't know where to begin! Let's start
with the pilot I just finished for ABC, shall we? Inside scoop? Contrary to
Internet reports that it has been titled "All Fall Down", we still don't have a
title beyond "The Untitled Rina Mimoun Pilot". In fact, it was never called "All
Fall Down". Even Rina, who created the show, doesn't know how this factitious
title came about.
I have to tell you, I have never been prouder to be a part of anything in my
entire career and you know how proud I was of Charmed, so that's really saying
something. The script is amazing (Rina has got the gift) and for the three weeks
we worked in South Carolina, everything fell into place with ease. The director
(Lawrence Trilling), the cast (Mary Steenburgen, James Brolin, Anna Camp, Misha
Collins, Ian Kahn, David Suttcliffe), the crew (to my delight - we even had a
couple of Charmed crew members in our camera department), everything about this
experience was special. It was a labor of love and I think we made a damn good
pilot and I know I made lots of good friends. Now... we play the waiting game
for two months and hope ABC finds a time slot in their programming for us. My
fingers are crossed. My toes are crossed. Everything is crossed. I am a pretzel.
The script is warm, smart and hysterically funny. It opens with my character
(Annie) in labor where she finds out some unsettling news about her husband. She
is a high-powered attorney in Boston. After finding out this news, she takes her
newborn son and drives back to her hometown of Charleston, South Carolina (not
Savannah as falsely reported on the Internet) to raise her baby and chaos
ensues. The characters and relationships are so real, quirky and heartwarming.
You will fall in love with this dysfunctional and yet functional family. I think
there is something for everyone to relate to.
In other news, it's almost opening day!!! Yay! Baseball makes me so happy. But
man, the Dodgers are driving me nuts this Spring Training. Colletti if you are
reading this - we need a power hitter!!!! The good news? TOUCH will be available
on opening day in all the stadiums. MLB.com is carrying the whole line as well!
I am so proud. The clothing line is something I have been working on for the
last two years and to see it finally come into fruition in such a positive way -
is so rewarding. I hope you like the stuff. If you buy any of it, take pictures
of you in it and post it on the boards so I can see!
What else do I have to share with you all? Let's see... I am going to Uganda in
a few weeks for my first field visit as The Lead Ambassador For Neglected
Tropical Diseases. I am excited to expand my knowledge of these diseases that
are virtually ignored and affect the poorest of the poor. I will take pictures
and of course share my journey with you all upon my return.
You know what else? My mare, Sarafina, just had a baby! We named her Harmony and
she is the most beautiful little horse I have ever seen. God, she's cute. I just
want to squeeze her.
What a blessed life I live. I am a very lucky girl. I thank God every day. I
appreciate all of it and I appreciate all of you. You have supported me no
matter where I am or what I am doing. Thank you!

Sandra about Julian in Premonition
Q: It was important you cast the right guy as your husband. What did Julian bring to the film?
Sandra Bullock: Acting chops. Acting chops. Acting chops. And an understanding of what it is to be a father. An understanding of what it is like to be a man and be in the position where you have to be the provider. You have to do x, y and z in order to be a man which is completely false, but it’s that preconceived notion. The fact that the day has become mundane. That tweed jacket at the car shop. It’s a place where it is just the same thing everyday. ‘They could have been Prom King and Queen. They were the sparkle in everyone’s eye.’ And here they are, what they are, which is nothing. He understood that. He was so thorough in how he approached everything. And in the love scene, the love scene that we did isn’t the love scene that was written. You know? And we got to that night and we went, ‘Something is not right.’ That happens a lot on a film where you have shot so much and you get to this place and you go, ‘So much has changed.’ And so all three of us just locked ourselves in a room and talked about it and what is it that we want to say in a visual way and emotionally. The way he approaches his work is so thorough. He is a workhorse. He takes his craft very seriously. I felt very comfortable with him. I knew he was in it for the same reasons I was and there was going to be nothing for those three months that was going to get in the way of that. So, I admire him a great deal for the man he is and for the actor he is and for his dedication. And he’s really tall and he made me look tiny. (Laughs) I love that.

Julian McMahon Talks Dr. Doom Costumes in "FF2"
Ftopel writes: "Dr. Doom may be the comic book equivalent to Julia Roberts, trying on different outfits in front of a mirror in a romantic comedy montage. He seems to have more outfits in "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer" than most divas.
"It's weird, man, because first of all, you start with Dr. Doom has been in a casket for a couple of years and wakes up a few years later," said actor Julian McMahon. "He's pretty pissed off, kind of just rips off his mask and all that kind of stuff. He gets very ugly."
Homecoming gives Dr. Doom a setting fit for his wardrobe changes. "Then he's got his lair set up in some castle in Latveria, right? We're talking comic book stuff so you have to kind of go with all this kind of stuff. With all these monitors and stuff, I don't know where he got 'em all from but they're pretty cool. He sees this kind of entity which is the Silver Surfer. Just knowing the comic books, Dr. Doom is Dr. Doom so what does he do? He goes and he tries to destroy everybody and get everybody's powers and all that kind of stuff. That's basically what the character's about."
Once the Surfer is off, McMahon gets to be himself. "Then Dr. Doom becomes me for a certain period of time which I think is very strange but let's not get into that."
For the grand finale, expect a big closer. "Then the final costume is this pretty amazing costume. It's a similar kind of mask. It's kind of a larger type of fit and probably a little more sturdy kind of look to it. The chest plate, it's a very heavy outfit. It weighed about 45 -50 pounds whatever without the cape and stuff but its pretty extraordinary. It’s a darker suit than the one he had last time its kind of more Batmanesque in a way, but with the mask its obviously very Dr. Doom, and it’s a great looking outfit. Look, I got so many outfits its ridiculous."
At least they're keeping him busy. With new characters like the Surfer and Galactus, Dr. Doom still has a vital role. "I had quite a lot to do actually, because he went through all these transformations, different to what happens in the comic or the cartoon but we kinda just had to make it applicable [to the film].""
