That's the synopsis.
In reality however this books reads like a less entertaining and more
analyzing sequel of "Totally Charmed: Demons, Whitelighters and the Power of Three".
The main points seem to be the role of second-, third- or whatever wave
of feminism and the presence or rather absence of wicca in Charmed. While the
articles are interesting to read and show a profound knowledge of the show they
seem a bit abstract.

This book is a waste of money.
It is written by fans (I do not wish to give that site extra credit)
and is unofficial and unauthorized. Worse, it does not "include"
comments, biography, quotes and facts as the synopsis claims, it
completely consists of them and nothing else. There are just few facts
and a biography which you can find in more detail on pages like
Wikipedia or IMDB. 60 pages (out of 102) consist only of fan quotes
about Shannen. There are no pictures except of few fan art.
Conclusion: do not buy.

The Charmed Ones travel to Hollywood to attend a big bash
hosted by Kevin Peterson, Paige's old flame. Kevin is holding the
party at his recently purchased mansion, which he was able to afford
because of rumors that it's haunted! Sure enough, ghostly goings-on
begin almost immediately, but everyone believes that Kevin is the one
behind the "haunting." He confides in Paige that he is not.
The ghost reveals himself to be
Robert Maxwell, a star of stage and screen who vanished under
mysterious circumstances in 1926 -- right after receiving a singing
telegram. A friendly ghost, Maxwell just likes having an audience. But
when people start to disappear and the house seals shut, the Charmed
Ones realize something evil must also be lurking. It is only with the
able assistance of their ghostly ally that they and the rest of the
partygoers stand a chance.

Review:
Episode guide, spells and all that stuff as it was in vol. 1. In addition there is now a "behind the scene" bit with each episode with blurps from whoever crew member the author could find for it.
Pictures: in the middle are some (more than in vol. 1) images, nice but nothing new. There is no Brian/Leo at all, no Julian/Cole, but a nice one of baby Chris. Also Chris, Wyatt, adult and as kids.
The overall look has improved, the annoying triquetra as background on text pages is gone. Again, no index. Small pictures of the BoS - which would be interesting if they weren't that tiny - are scattered over the pages.
At the end you get 2 producers interviews. |
