Triple crescent

Triple crescent

The Triple Goddess, known as Maiden, Mother and Crone is three in one. Just as we are all of these things yet one.

As our ancient ancestors grew in consciosness into human beings, they began to connect with the natural world around them in a deeper way. They saw in the sky two celestial companions- a constant never changing sun, and the luninous moon, which diminished and grew in time a woman's own cycles. Over time, myths and legends associated with the moon changed, but her primary association with the feminine has not. The triple crescent moon symbolizes the three aspects of a woman's life- maiden, mother, and crone, as well as the three fates - the "weird"(from "wyrd", meaning fate) sisters who control one's birth, life and death. The crescents are bound toghether by a full moon, the never-ending circle embracing all parts of the whole.

The Goddess as the Maid

This, is the Goddess of Love, Hope, and Beauty. The Waxing Crescent Moon signifies the MAID. Her many Names the essence of Fantasy: Kore, Athenea, Bast, Blodeuwedd, Brigit, Ostara. Every culture shares her aspects.

Iduna is also the Patroness of spring, the season when all is young and new. She is also a healer, she who is called on when life force ebbs, and strength and vitality are needed.
