  vanquished by Cronos

Titans are ancient gods who were entombed 3000 years ago by the Elders. The only way the Elders could stop them was by infusing some mortals with tremendous power. However, when the mortals trapped the Titans, the power went to their heads. They declared themselves gods and forced the world to worship them.
The titans now return and kill whitelighters to steal their orbing powers. With these powers they can go after the Elders and kill most of them.

Meta was able to turn someone into a statue of stone by looking at him. Cronos and Demetrius had the ability to throw electric bolts amongst other powers.

MordockMordock

Titans
Greek Goddess

Summary: When the mythic Gods, the Titans, are released and kill all the elders, Leo is forced to take over. Meanwhile, a mysterious Whitelighter from the future guides the Charmed Ones when Leo gives the girls the ultimate power to vanquish the Titans, recreating them as Greek Goddesses, despite the risk that they will be seduced by their vast new powes.

Writer: Krista Vernoff and Curtis Kheel
Director: Jonathan West

Timeline: September 2003

Trivia: Chris Perry appears.

This is Charmed's first 2 hour season finale and therefore the first season with 23 episodes.

This is the second time we see Phoebe using her premonition power without revealing what she sees.

Piper: I'm going to go see what Future Boy is up to.
Piper: I'll blow his ass Back to the Future, orbs and all
Meaning:
'Future Boy' is what Doc Brown in 1955 called Marty McFly when he revealed that he had come from 1985 in a DeLorean time machine that Doc's future self had invented. This was in the first film of the  "Back to the Future" movies.

Chris: Or your be like, stone cold Paige over there.
Meaning:
This is a reference to Stone Cold Steve Austin, a wrestler.

Phoebe: Elise, you brazen hussy!
Meaning:
When Phoebe calls Elise a "brazen hussy", this is a clear allusion to Nathaniel Hawthorne's Puritanical-classic "The Scarlet Letter" in which the lead character, Hester Prynne, is called a "brazen hussy" by the townswomen.

The Titans here don't quite fit into what's generally known about greek mythology: It's correct that Cronus was the leader of the Titans, but there are no Titans known by the names Demetrius and Meta . And the power to turn people into stone with her stare, which Meta posesses here, is generally believed to be the power of a Gorgon, Medusa. See background info.

Random quote:

Phoebe: Okay, before you start yelling, let me just explain to you I'm trying to figure out where Jason and I stand, and to do that it requires a lot of phone calls. You're gonna throw that glass at me, aren't you?
Piper: No, honey, I get it. You know, it is a very big phone bill, but if you have to choose between true love and air conditioning, I'd say it's a no brainer.
Phoebe: Who are you and what have you done to my sister?
