Raynor, head of the Brotherhood Of the Thorn and Cole's old mentor.
He is after a powerful amulet which is supposed to protect witches. Only the most evil of demons has the power to take it away. When both halfs of it are connected it protects power and can make demons invincible. To activate the power of the amulet both halfs must be combined and a spell
 is needed.

Raynor is vanquished by Cole.
 

Amulet of protection
 Two halfs of an ancient charm, each powerful on its own by offering a shield against all but the most Evil Demons. Only great strength can overcome them.
However the amulet is useless to anyone evil because its only for the use of good. Whoever joins the two Amulets together becomes invincible.

When both halfs are brought together they need to be activated by the adjoining spell to release their Power.

  
     
Potions/Rituals: to strip Cole's powers:

ginger
water
a pinch of dandelion
a dash of chickweed

Shake water vigorously for two hundred heartbeats. Then add ginger, a pinch of dandelion and a dash of
chickweed.
Let it cool and wait till it turns blood red

Summary:

Cole is forced to commit several demonic acts in order to save his father's soul and keep Raynor his old mentor from destroying him. Meanwhile the Halliwell trio try to protect a witch who has an important amulet and Piper is shocked when her powers seem to go haywire, causing things to explode.

Piper: Oh, forgery. Wanting to have a normal life. Getting pissed off. By next week I'll be walking around like Carrie at the prom.
Meaning:
This is a reference to the book Carrie by Stephen King, in which a telekinetic girl destroys her home town after her classmates play a cruel joke on her at the prom. The book has also been made into a movie.
