3x04 Ruth CobbRuth Cobb, dark practicioner. She kidnapped the Charlotte in hopes of raising her child evil. If that happens, good magic will never flourish in the new world.



When the Charmed Ones freed Charlotte her plan failed.

On Halloween the veil between worlds thin and demons that know how can return to seek revenge. It is a witch's most sacred day and a day when the source of all magic can be tapped into.

Witch's wisdom:
The witch's journey is a walk of wisdom collected over the years. Wisdom gives power which often frightens the fearful and the ignorant.

The conical witch hat is a spiritual point which helps to channel magic and keep you centered and focused.

The apple holds a pentacle in its heart. With a laurel leaf it will block the path of evil.

The broom's traditional purpose is to sweep evil from the  path. Always sweep east to west as the sun travels. 

A pumpkin with a star carved out will turn away evil spirits.
 
Rosemary and lavender are protection herbs.

Summary: On Halloween, the sisters are pulled back in time to the 1600's to save a witch and her soon-to-be-born child from the hands of an evil witch who wants to raise the child evil. The sisters later discover that this situation may have more personal implications than they first imagined.

Leo is dressed in his old World War II army uniform.
Darryl wears his police uniform from his rookie days.

The first and only time Halloween is celebrated in the show.

The girls are sent to Virginia where they save her ancestor Melinda Warren.

Piper: "We are not in Kansas anymore."
Meaning:
A quote from the 1939 movie "The wizard of Oz".

Prue: Uh, unless we're dead and this is the here after, I don't think so.
Phoebe: Eternally Elvira, yecch.
Meaning:
A reference to the movie "Elvira the mistress of the dark"

Leo: Glinda helped innocents didn't she?
Meaning:
Glinda the good witch of the North, is a character from the same movie.
