The Power of Darkness A dark tall column, shaped roughly like a man, this demon swallowing up light and has a variety of powers Unnamed demon Short with scaly green face and a forked tongue Kazoo A cylindrical object used to summon Charon Nick Gerrard aka Täuschung The being now known as Täuschung was once a French aristocrat named Nicolas Gerrard. During the French Revolution a band of marauders set fire to Gerrard's chateau and he almost burnt to death. Only the fact that he was engaged to a local peasant girl allowed him to survive. Her family risked their life to rescue him. However, when Gerrard's fiancee saw how badly he was burnt she declared she could never marry such a monster. Gerrard vowed to show her and all womankind just what a monster was. The Power of Darkness offered him to get his revenge in exchange for an eternity in his service. He took for himself the name and the power of Täuschung which means "illusion". His power is the ability to assume whatever form he wants. While the Power of Darkness gets the souls of his victims he gets a continuation of his powers. If Gerrard kills Cole his powers would be his very own and he would be free from the Power of Darkness. Charon the ferryman whose duty is to transport the newly departed souls to the realm of the dead The void is the transition to the realm of the dead. The boat and the water (Styx) are merely trappings to make the passage easier. The wasteland The dead who inhabit it come to be there because they literally wasted their lives. They had the chance to do good, to make a difference, and let it pass them by. After death they are sent to the wasteland where all they can do is reflect on the barrennes of their former lives. This is not the demonic wasteland from 4x22 Witch way now. The end is called the bondary and is a wall of fire. The only way to pass it is going underneath it. |

| Random quote: |
Cole felt his temper snap like a guitar-string pulled too
tight. He covered the distance between himself and the demon in three
quick strides. Seizing the demon by the neck, he lifted him straight up
into the air. "Is he supposed to be able to do that?" Paige asked anxiously. "I mean, now that he's a mere mortal and all that?" |

The story sounds promising but is soon ruined by endless
talkings and a barely interesting "quest" to rescue Phoebe. Maybe this is due to the fact that Cole is completely human and the villains are demoningly boring. The end is unsurprising and comes in a rush that makes you wonder why the author wasted so much time on the .. well, wasteland. Read if you like Cole and Phoebe and find yourself stuck in a desert. |
