Title: Hurricane hex

Creatures: Catastrophic storms such as hurricanes, monsoons and tornados can influence magic. A severe storm can enhance magic, diminish it, make it go haywire or not affect it at all.
No spells or potions should be used then.
Some folk spells used captured free magic as a catalyst and a true witch is not necessary to make them work. However, seemingly innocent potions and incantations could backfire especially in such weather situations.

Devil's doorway
Circular patches of barren ground
that some say are cursed. No plants grow in the soil and everthing left overnight on the soil disappears.

Stray sod or enchanted grass, a Celtic myth
If someone steps on a clump, they lose all sense of direction. Landmarks disappear and they wander aimlessly.

Potions/Rituals: healing agents
aloe vera
ginseng
horsetail
myrrh

herbs for protection or good luck
bay laurel
garlic

purifying and cleansing
lavender
pine needles

to enhance fertility
acorn
bistot root

all purpose herb
vervain

to stall a storm

draw a pentagram on the floor
and a circle in the middle
draw a simple map of the neighbourhood in the circle
chew a piece of ginger root for a minute
spit it into the cup of your hand
dip a finger in the juice and trace the circle with the finger
leave the chalk diagram and face the approaching storm
spit a bit of ginger root in the direction of the storm

caution: the spell builds up energy as does the storm behind the stalled eye
it also can sweep someone into a rift of reality

to break this spell you need the Power of Three
Each of the Charmed Ones is positioned inside one angle of the pentagram, connected by pieces of ivy so that the ivy forms a triangle

repeat incantation while another person erases the chalk drawing
(the ritual is actually not necessary but distracts from the Power of Three)

Spells: to keep others from meddling with your business:

Bound by blood and ivy vine
These from now will only mind
Their own business,
Not yours or mine

to remove the storm-stalling spell:

On the power of three
the spell breaks easy and free

Summary: Despite the fact that it's hurricane season, Phoebe, Piper, and Paige decide to take a trip to the Sunshine State. After spending a few days at Phoebe's advice column seminar in Orlando, the Charmed Ones head a few miles north to pay a visit to Sharon Grant, Paige's best friend from college. They arrive just as a hurricane in South Florida changes course and starts heading toward them.
The three sisters soon discover that the dangerous storm isn't their only worry -- it seems that Paige's friend has taken up practicing folk magic with a quirky neighbor who has an unhealthy obsession with Florida folklore. Aware that large storms can affect magic in mysterious and catastrophic ways, the Charmed Ones must batten down the hatches and convince their hostess and her friend to stop casting spells before they find themselves trapped in the eye of a real mess.

"Phoebe had an ache in her heart for Cole Turner, the lost love of her life."

Phoebe turned to hate him immediately after 5x02 and by the time he was vanquished she didn't feel anything for him anylonger so why should she feel sad.

Random quote: Paige leaned back against the headboard. "I can't wait for this hurricane to be over so we can fly back to S.F. and can get back to the business of being real witches who fight evil.
"Deadlines before demon," Phoebe said

Summary: 3 out of 12
As other Gallagher books this is kind of boring. The story however is something new. There is not too much magic involved but that would be a nice change from endless demon hunting if there weren't the curious subplots of Wyatt having to get over staying home alone with daddy Leo, pseudo-horror folkmagic stories and the Charmed Ones being stuck in obsession mode after a backfried spell by wannabe witches. While the latter could have been fun to read it becomes really dull after few pages but the author drags it over the whole book. Surprisingly well written is Leo who appears not often but has more character depth than in many other books.
